…Ramjattan says APNU+AFC has unleashed entrepreneurial spirit of Guyanese

PRIME Ministerial Candidate of the APNU+AFC, Khemraj Ramjattan, on Saturday, predicted victory for the coalition when Guyanese go to the polls on Monday.

“The APNU+AFC Coalition will beat the opposition People’s Progressive Party into numbness,” Ramjattan told thousands of supporters of the coalition at the multi-party’s final rally on Saturday night.

While noting that under President David Granger, Guyana is on cusp of becoming an education state, Ramjattan told the screaming crowd of supporters that the coalition has a contract with the people of Guyana in the form of its manifesto. “We have given our commitment to you to implement programmes in good governance with decency and integrity,” he said, noting that the populace cannot expect same from the PPP’s presidential candidate, Irfaan Ali.

Ramjattan said Guyana is blessed with the oil and gas and this sector of the economy, he noted, will make it the richest country in the Americas and the Caribbean Region. He said government intends to provide affordable shelter and proper amenities to all Guyanese in that regard. “We are going to reduce inequality and improve social protection,” he said, and he noted the next APNU+AFC Government will ensure better-paying jobs are provided for all, especially young people.

He said the type of leaders of the APNU+AFC possesses have ensured that the entrepreneurial spirit of all Guyanese has been unleashed. According to the prime ministerial candidate, the coalition government had created a knowledge-based society and in that regard, he lauded the work of Minister of Public Telecommunications, Catherine Hughes.

As he zoomed in on the leadership of President Granger, Ramjattan said that the President has ensured that Guyana is on course to win judgement in the border controversy with neighbouring Venezuela. He commended the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its work as he lauded the work of staff there in the case which is before the International Court of Justice.
Ramjattan told the thousands gathered at the venue that at the first rally hosted by the coalition to kick-start its campaign in January, the crowd was huge. “This is the biggest crowd there has been,” he said, as he noted that the gathering on Saturday night eclipsed that of the coalition’s first campaign rally.

Ramjattan told the sea of green and yellow that since the launch of the multi-party coalition’s campaign, he has travelled to each region across the country and according to him, there is a resounding call for “Don’t stop the progress”, the coalition’s catch-phrase which he coined.

He said the populace has “responded resoundingly” and according to him, the argument has been made that the government has started something brand new and will continue to ensure it develops once re-elected.

He said never before in Guyana’s history, has a government done what APNU+AFC achieved in economic development, restoring security, while advancing the country’s economy. “We have empowered the people,” he said, noting that the coalition was able to ensure that Local Government Elections were held after a 23-year lull under the PPP.
“Ours is a government that has transformed the infrastructure across the country,” he added, as he laid out the achievements of the government.

“You can ensure that the journey must not be interrupted and that we must win it by a landslide this time,” Ramjattan told the jubilant Durban Park crowd as he thanked them for partaking in the campaigns. He said that as they prepare to cast their votes, supporters must reject the narrative of Opposition Leader, Bharrat Jagdeo, and Ali. Ramjattan told supporters that voting for the APNU+AFC on Monday “is voting for your children’s future.” He said it is the best choice and the only choice supporters have at hand.
