POLICE are investigating the murder of Compton Benjamin, age 48 years, a porknocker of D’urban Street, Georgetown, allegedly by a co-worker who is presently being sought.
The incident occurred at Lime Tree Road, Black Water Backdam, on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at around 06:30hrs. Enquiries disclosed that the suspect and victim had an altercation over a quantity of stolen raw gold which he (suspect) had earlier secured in a cupboard they both shared.
Their argument reportedly escalated to the point where they began to fight and, during the process, the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the region of his chest. He was rushed to the Bartica Regional Hospital where he succumbed to his injury whilst receiving medical attention. The body is presently at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
