Man before court for murder of brother-in-law

TWENTY-NINE-year-old Anthony King was, on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, committed to stand trial at the High Court for murder of his brother-in-law, whom he allegedly beheaded in 2018.

King, was committed by Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Demerara High Court, on Thursday, when the Preliminary Inquiry concluded.
He is currently on remand for allegedly killing Justin Peterkin, 39, on November 5, 2018, at Section ‘C’ Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

The Magistrate ruled that a sufficient case was made out against King and committed him to be tried at the High Court for the offence.

According to a police report, Peterkin is an electrician and father of one, who resides at Paradise Village, East Coast Demerara and King visited the Golden Grove property. Peterkin was at home with his wife, Cassandra King, who is the defendant’s sister. Shortly after Cassandra King and her father David King left for work, an eyewitness reportedly saw King chopping his in-law in the yard.

An alarm was raised and the defendant allegedly left the scene, but was promptly arrested by the police, who were summoned. Peterkin’s body reportedly bore multiple wounds to the neck, head, and shoulder.
