LOCAL marksman Ryan McKinnon got off to a bang as he shot his way to the number one spot in last Saturday’s 5th annual Guyana Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF)/P&P Insurance Steel Challenge Shoot.
The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Yarrowkabra Ranges came alive last weekend with the first official shoot of 2020,which saw a number of good performances from the local deadeyes; most notably McKinnon, who destroyed the Limited Division competition.
The 4-stage match consisted of sanctioned stages and the seasoned pistol-man completed his challenge in a lightning-fast 69.35 seconds to end as the number one overall winner in that category. Second place went to John Phang who shot 83.33 seconds while GSSF Executive, Pravesh Harry, finished 3rd with 83.43 seconds.
In the Production Division, Rajiv Latchana (82.23 seconds) shot his way to the first place spot while Andrew Phang (92.16 seconds) and Michael Blake (109.02 seconds) copped 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
Prior to the shoot, Match Director Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, welcomed the participants while outlining the necessary range rules. She further thanked GDF Chief-of-Staff, Brigadier Patrick West and Commissioner of Police, Mr. Leslie James, for allowing the Foundation to continue its mandate of promoting pistol shooting in Guyana.
