THE VISITING Queen’s Park Cricket Club won the U-13 battle, while Saints defeated Old Fort in the U-16 final of the Guyana Hockey Board Outdoor Boys’ Challenge, yesterday at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground.

In a tense U-16 final, it took a single goal in the last minute of the first half to decide the winners between Guyanese clubs Saints and Old Fort.

Naresh Mahadeo took a short corner and the ball was passed around several times, before Samuel Garnett managed to make a shot on goal. Although the shot was partially deflected, Mahadeo was able to collect the ball at the mouth of the goal and he made no mistake.

Old Fort made several runs in the second period, but none threatened to change the score.

In the first semi-final, a first-half strike from Garnett propelled Saints ahead of GCC (1-0); while Old Fort had defeated QPCC 2-1 on penalties after a 0-0, full-time score, in semi-final number two.

U-13 FINAL
