THE Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) has further shortened the national Under-21 teams set to travel for the Inter-Guiana tournament, which is billed for French Guiana in the latter part of next month.

Last month, GVF had shortlisted 32 players (15 females and 17 males) to travel. They have since reduced the number to 28 (14 females and 14 males) with the sides expected to be reduced to 12 each before they leave for the February 27-29 event, which also includes Suriname.

The male players selected are Andy Rohoman, Ronaldo Bobb, Hellond Singh, Kristoff Sheppard, Levi Nedd (Jr), Tyreece Farley, Daniel Joseph, Noelex Holder, Terrence Groenhart, Andre Jagnandan, Daiymon Al Ahamad, Kellon Leitch, Jaleel Robert and Montel Denny.

The females are Shamariah David, Famke David, Cassie Junor, Kelly Gurrick, Cherry Ann Fraser, Danielle Francis, Amisha Mohàbir, Latoya Drakes, Hannah Hicks, Ronelda Payne, Devonte Hernandez, Aliyah Mohabir, Krystal Paddy and Philana Simpson.

According to information from GVF, teams are in the process of acquiring visas for the trip, while training is ongoing.

Guyana’s males are the 2018 champions and the 2019 runners-up.

Last year they finished second to French Guiana (2-3). Along with the second-place trophy, Guyana took two individual awards. Captain Andy Rohoman was adjudged the best attacker, while his teammate Jaleel Roberts finished as the best blocker.

The female side lost to both the home nation and Suriname in the preliminary round.
