AS part of its road safety awareness, Traffic Headquarters has recommenced the School Safety Patrols in Regional Police Division number four (b) (Eccles-Moblissa) starting with the Peters Hall Primary and Diamond Secondary schools, East Bank Demerara, respectively.
On Thursday, the initiative was spearheaded by Traffic Education Officer, Assistant Superintendent, Raun Clarke, of Traffic Headquarters who was assisted by ranks within the division.

The initiative will be conducted countrywide as part of the School Safety Patrol guidelines.
Teachers, along with the students, who will form the actual patrol, were trained to recognise traffic safety as well as how to properly use the pedestrian crossing to assist in keeping their peers safe on their journey to and from school.

The students will be equipped with a green patrol belt and red stop sign which will serve to alert motorists to proceed carefully since school children are in the area. They will also be assisted by teachers and traffic ranks who will be there to guide them.
