HIS Excellency, President David Granger, along with First Lady, Mrs. Sandra Granger, and granddaughter, Faraa Gaskin, joined parishioners at the St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in Bartica, Region Seven for ‘Holy Family Day’ service on Sunday.

The Head of State commended the congregation for hosting a day dedicated to honouring the family unit, which he noted needs to be emphasised since it is key to building a strong nation and communities.

In brief remarks, President Granger, also reminded those gathered of their civic duty in ensuring Bartica becomes a striving, modern town, especially through good governance for the future generations to inherit.

“It has always been a beautiful and blessed town and I want you to ensure that those infants, who were baptised today, will be growing up in a beautiful and blessed town just as I enjoyed growing up. Protect and preserve your families, preserve the memory and message of St. John The Baptist. Think of your township and ensure your children understand the civic duty in protecting and preserving Bartica.”

Bartica is one of the oldest hinterland towns which was developed from an Anglican missionary settlement, established in 1842. (DPI)
