HILBERT Foster, who has positively transformed Berbice cricket, will have another term to continue his work after he was re-elected unanimously to his post yesterday when the Berbice Cricket Board, at its office in New Amsterdam, held its biennial elections.
Foster, who was the only person nominated for the post, finished with 31 votes.

After the elections, Foster expressed his gratitude to the delegates for their confidence in him and praised the spirit in which the AGM was held.
According to information on the BCB social media page, Foster stated that “it was refreshing to know that under his leadership, Berbice cricket was united and has rejected the unwanted presence of an individual who only remembers Berbice close to elections.”

The Berbice cricket head attributed sheer hard work, honesty, opened leadership, visionary planning and his inclusivity approach for his progression over the last 22 months—which had over 60 tournaments and raised over 20M in cash and kind. Off the field, the BCB was able to modernise its office, enact numerous developmental programmes and deliver unmatched assistance to the clubs. According to information from the BCB Facebook page, Foster also “stated that the police would be called in unless the former treasurer could account for the $2M withdrawn from the BCB account in 2017”.

The Ancient County cricket chief noted that his new term would not be run with his “nice boy” attitude, which was displayed over the last two years and has promised that any person who libels him on social media would face legal action.

At the AGM, delegates from Kildonan, Port Mourant, Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, Albion, Chesney, Whim, Young Warriors CC, Rose Hall Canje, Mental Hospital, Mt Sanai, Police, Blairmont, Guymine, Berbice River and Upper Corentyne all voted to re-elect Foster to another two-year term.

The other elected officials were VPs: Albert Smith, Qualis Winter, Robby Saywack, secretary– Angela Haniff, asst secretary– Ameer Rahaman, Treasurer Dr Cecil Beharry and asst treasurer, Rovin Bahadur.

According to information from the association, the AGM of the BCB went quite smoothly with comprehensive reports from the president, treasurer and chairman of the competition.
Foster also unveiled some major plans for 2020/2021 and told delegates that the upcoming period would see “more progress in the Ancient County”.

Information from the BCB indicated that delegates from the West Berbice Cricket Association walked out while delegates were being registered to vote by Returning Officer Imran Ally.

The new executives would meet early in the new year to select committees and appoint executives.
