He reflected on his last visit stating that he was impressed with the work done by healthcare providers at the Suddie Public Hospital, noting that they worked well under varying conditions and challenges. Regional Executive Officer, Mr. Denis Jaikarran said that the Regional Administration was pleased to construct and furnish the facility which he described as an asset for pregnant mothers. He said the facility will serve as a hub to foster social cohesion in the region and mothers whenever they are overnighting will be benefitting from counselling sessions. Acting Medical Superintendent, Dr. Shen Reid, said that pregnant mothers were hosted at the Amerindian Hostel prior to delivery. She said that the facility was not comfortable. With the new facility, pregnant mothers will be more comfortable.
Region Two Engineer, Kawan Suchit, said that the building was a two-storey one and measured 30x 80 feet. It was fully furnished and had basic amenities such as a kitchen, waiting area and washroom. There were currently 16 beds and 9 self-contained bedrooms. The building was completed in 2017 but was furnished in 2019.
