QUINCY Evans of Gordon Street, Kitty, who was, months ago, charged for attempting to murder Joshua Williams, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and heard that the attempted murder charge was withdrawn and a felonious wounding charge was issued.
Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, read the new charge to Evans, which stated that, on August 28, 2019, at Gordon Street, Kitty, he wounded Joshua Williams with the intent to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm.
Evans was not required to plead to the charge.

Magistrate McLennan stated that, based on the advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), the attempted murder charge was withdrawn.

According to information, on the day in question, the two men had a misunderstanding and Evans armed himself with a sharp instrument and ‘chopped’ Williams to his chest and shoulder. Williams was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and was discharged three days later.

Hence, Evans remained on $120,000 bail. The matter was adjourned until December 3, 2019.
