EX-POLICEMAN, Teon Allen, known as “Spoil Child”, who was almost killed at East La Penitence, Georgetown, October last, during a shootout with rival gang members, was shot by police, Tuesday afternoon, at Houston, East Bank Demerara.
The gunshot wound to the body was not fatal. He is listed as stable.
Police, in operations mode, cornered Allen, after the car he was driving, a Nissan Bluebird, slammed into a fence at the Rahaman’s turn, Houston.
He was shot after reportedly pointing a gun at a police patrol. Two other ex-policemen who were in the vehicle with Allen were also arrested.
They were identified as Jason Gonsalves of William Street, Kitty and Shaquille George.
Allen, who is a suspected gang leader, was recently charged with discharging a loaded firearm and was released on bail.
He is also involved in an ongoing gang feud in the Linden community involving two rival gangs from Amelia’s Ward.
September last, Allen turned himself in after a wanted bulletin was issued by the Guyana Police Force, in connection with the attempted murder of Denise Grant and Tiffany McDeth, in Amelia’s Ward, Linden, Region 10, on September 2, 2019.
Allen’s car was reportedly torched by a bystander who witnessed the ordeal with the women. The act was suspected to be carried out by members of a Cayenne-based Guyanese gang.
In August 2017, Allen was charged with harbouring wanted men Mark Royden Williams and Uree Varswyck, who had escaped from the Camp Street Prison on July 9, 2017.
Also in January 2017, Allen was charged along with three others for possession of an AK-47, along with matching ammunition. The men were arrested during a police raid at a John Street, Campbellville, Georgetown house. Allen was also previously charged for a number of other offences, including robbery under arms.
