…had evaded capture for three years
CHIEF Magistrate Ann McLennan on Tuesday remanded a man to prison on an attempted murder charge.
Rayon Lowe appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and was not required to plead to the charge.
It is alleged that on November 23, 2016, at Dump Site Eccles, he wounded Leroy Cummings with intent to murder him.
According to reports, on the day in question Lowe and Cummings were at the dumpsite having drinks with other workers. Cummings then fell asleep in a hammock when Lowe woke him up with two lashes to his knees and asked him about some items he allegedly took.
The court heard that Lowe then pulled out a knife and stabbed Cummings about his body. Cummings was then taken to the hospital where he underwent treatment and surgery, which resulted in amputation of his left arm.
The matter was reported, but Lowe was able to evade capture for three years until he was finally arrested earlier this month.
Magistrate McLennan, after listening to the prosecutor, remanded Lowe to prison until December 11, 2019.
