SEVENTEEN ranks of the Guyana Police Force recently graduated from a basic skill-at-arms training at the Tactical Services Unit Auditorium.
The course, which commenced on November 04, 2019, concluded on November 22 and saw 17 ranks drawn from the various policing divisions benefitting from the specialised training.
Lance Corporal 23100 Shemar Doris (Reg#2) was awarded best graduating student for his outstanding performance followed by Lance Corporal 21952 Nyal Brutus (Reg#4B) as the first runner-up student.
Best classroom student was Corporal 21668, Shawn Fraser (Reg#2). Lance Corporal 20866, Esan Harding (Reg#4C) grabbed the most improved student award.
Best Fitness Award went to Lance Corporal 23100, Shemar Doris, while Sergeant 201725, Jermaine Fraser from the TSU was awarded Best Shot for his consistency of hitting the targets.
Officer-in-Charge of Tactical Services Unit, Superintendent Guy Nurse, lectured on the theoretical aspect of the course while the Course Instructors, Inspector Joseph Grant; Sergeant 17045, Lambert Peters; Corporal 21825, Rudyard Thomas and Corporal 21718, Shain Kippins did the practical aspects.
Deputy commissioners ‘Administration’ and ‘Operations’, Paul Williams and Maxine Graham who were in attendance commended the ranks for their dedication and successful completion of the course.
They were encouraged to push harder and keep excelling in the future, and, most importantly, to ensure that the skill acquired be imparted in their respective divisions so as to ensure a better quality of service delivery.
