A FATHER of six was killed on Friday evening after a speeding vehicle hit him on the Timehri Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Dead is Harrichan Ramsundar, 54, a security guard of 217 Patentia Estate Reserve, West Bank Demerara.
Reports indicate that the vehicle was proceeding north along the western carriageway of the road at a fast rate of speed, when the left side of the vehicle collided with Ramsundar, who was walking south along the western side of the said road.
Even though Ramsundar received multiple injuries from the accident, the driver of the vehicle sped away.
The father was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre in an unconscious condition and was pronounced dead on arrival. The body was then taken to Lyken’s Funeral Home where it is awaiting post-mortem examination.
Ramsundar, who is a live-in security guard at a Timehri location, would usually go out to buy groceries and purchase food every week.
