CHAIRMAN of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR), Volda Lawrence, made a tangible donation to the owner of the D’Urban Street Guinness Bar and Restaurant, Troy Mendonca, following the fire which gutted the establishment on Monday.
She noted that over the years and through his business, Mendonca has contributed to the Lodge community. In handing over the donation, she encouraged him to remain steadfast and to utilise the contribution to rebuild his business.
Fire destroyed the popular establishment at 67, Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge, just after 19:00 hours on Monday evening, causing Mendonca some $10M in losses.
The fire also put several persons out of a job. In accepting the donation, Mendonca thanked the PNCR and the Georgetown District for its benevolence, stating that these are acts of love he will cherish forever.
