A Better Success minibus driver is in critical condition at the Suddie Public Hospital after he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a lantern post at Perth Village, Region Two, on Thursday.

According to information reaching the Guyana Chronicle, the incident occurred around 17:30 hours and the driver has been identified as Jerome Banson.

The two other passengers, Kamini Boodram and Shalisa Ramdatt, who were in the front seat of the vehicle, suffered broken arms while 12 students, who were in the vehicle, were taken to the Oscar Joseph Hospital at Charity for treatment.

The driver has sustained severe injuries about his body and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.

The driver, who was taking the passengers home, was heading in the northern direction when he lost control and slammed into the electrical post, causing the passengers to panic and scream. Police are investigating the matter.
