THE body of nine-year-old Imani Leech of Lower Kara Kara, Speightland, floated up on Monday morning, in the same vicinity where he fell in the Kara Kara creek, while in the company of family members on Saturday.
Commander of ‘E’ Division, Superintendent Courtland Winter, confirmed that the child’s body was found. On Saturday midday, the lad was at the creek and slipped in. His aunt attempted to save him but was unable to do so. She was pulled out by relatives but Leech’s body was already pulled away by the strong current. Leech was a student of the Regma Primary School. His mother is a police officer attached to the Mackenzie Police Station.
The Kara Kara creek is a popular swimming location for residents of Linden. Speightland and Kara Kara residents also use the creek for domestic purposes. Several persons have drowned there in the past.
