CHIEF Magistrate Ann McLennan on Monday, September 23, 2019, released a 55-year-old Kitty resident on $20,000 bail for sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl.
John Fitzgerald Hopkinson appeared before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and was not required to plead to the charge which was read in-camera.
Particulars of the charge alleged that, on April 26, 2019, at Queen Street, Kitty, Hopkinson engaged in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16, by bracing her to a gate and rubbing his body against her.
Hopkinson was released on $20,000 bail and was ordered by the Chief Magistrate for a psychological evaluation to be done on him to see if he is mentally fit to stand trial.
He was also ordered not to contact the victim and to stay 50 feet away from her. The matter was adjourned until October 14, 2019.
