A magnificent unbeaten century by national Under -17 captain Sheldon Charles engineered a comprehensive 8 wicket win for Bacchus Bulls against Tuschen Southside of East Bank Essequibo
. The feature 35 overs Under -17 match was played at the Imam Bacchus ground in Affiance on Saturday. After losing the toss and asked to bat first; Tuschen Southside was indebted to an impressive half-century by Mark Mohabir who held the innings together after wickets fell around him at regular intervals
. The opener batted solidly in his knock of 77 which was decorated by nine elegant fours. Along with his captain Jason Holder who made a brisk 22 (4×4), they were able to reach a challenging 201 all-out in 33 overs.
Essequibo inter-county leg-spinner Keshew Deonarine 3-32 from 7 overs and Arian Doodnauth 3-27 from his 7 overs bowled accurately for the hosts.
In reply, Sheldon Charles took centre stage from the beginning to the end. The elegant right- hander was in sublime touch and easily a cut above his counterparts. He played shots to all parts of the picturesque ground counting 17 majestic fours and 2 towering sixes on his way to an unbeaten 127.
Charles teamed up with national Under- 17 selectee Azizi Christiani 37 (4×4) and the two put together an entertaining 155 run partnership that became the principal foundation for their emphatic win, reaching 203-2 in just 28 overs.
