OVER 100 students from 15 public schools and seven private institutions concluded a work study programme on Friday at the Guyana Police Force (GPF).
The work study was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
The GPF apprenticeship programme, which commenced on June 19, placed the students in various departments/branches within the Force.
The Force, in a release, said students performed excellently during their apprenticeship. On Friday, the GPF provided incentives to a total of 107 students which amounted to over $1.6M upon completion of their work study.
Deputy Commissioner (Administration) Paul Williams briefed the students on good conduct and discipline.
He motivated them by saying “winners don’t quit and quitters don’t win” and “the race is not for the swift but for who can endure it to the end”.
The deputy commissioner encouraged all the students to qualify themselves and to take criticisms positively.
Present were Assistant Commissioner Training, Clifton Hicken; Finance Officer, Senior Superintendent, Michael Sutton; and Public Relations Officer (ag), Superintendent, Shivpersaud Persaud.
