PARTLY cloudy and sunny skies are to be expected throughout Guyana with a few early morning passing showers in some coastal areas, with afternoon thundershowers likely over inland areas, according to the weather forecast for Friday, August 16.
Also, winds, with maximum temperatures of 30 ºC – 32ºC on the coast and 32 ºC – 35 oC in the hinterland, are also predicted.
Meanwhile, the highest rainfall of 50.0 millimeters was recorded at Sherima in Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni), when rainfall data for 24 hours, measured at 08:00hours on Thursday August 15, 2019, were available for most of the stations.
This is according to information supplied by the Hydrometeorological Service of the Ministry of Agriculture, which also noted that High Pressure Ridge controlled the weather pattern over Guyana. It stated also that localised heating had given rise to thundershowers over some inland areas.
A review of Thursday’s weather noted that sunny skies were observed throughout Guyana with isolated thundershowers over some areas in Regions Seven, Eight and 10.
Today, above normal high tides measuring 2.95 metres will occur at 04:29hours and again at 16:52 hours when it will reach a height of 2.79 meters.
Meanwhile, citizens are advised that the above normal high tide advisory is still in effect and will continue until Tuesday, August 20, 2019.
