TWENTY-EIGHT children, ages seven to 12, received haversacks with school supplies on Wednesday at the Blairmont Police Station, Berbice, to aid in their academic pursuits.
Superintendent Mahendra Singh said the children were drawn from across the station district and each child was also given a snack, ice cream and beverage.

Recently, at the Fort Wellington Police Station, 38 children, also ages seven to 12, were given a haversack each with school supplies.

The children were drawn from across the sub-division’s youth groups. The children also received meals.

“Our intention is to really give children in need a good start for the school year since the educational welfare of children is essential in developing the communities where police operate on a daily basis,” the superintendent noted.
