RICE farmers account for some 90 per cent of customers of the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) Region Two branch, manager Tajekumarie Dalchand said as the bank celebrated its 21st anniversary on Friday.

“We stand committed and loyal in serving the Essequibo population; we provide reliable and efficient banking services and we are happy to serve residents in Region Two 21 years now,” she said.

Speaking to well-wishers, customers and members of the media, the Region Two branch manager said GBTI will continue to provide services in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region and there is no intention of closing its doors.

Senior Finance Manager Shawn Gurucharran, opened the elegant night by congratulating staff of the branch for their commitment. He praised the prudent management of Dalchand and thanked the Essequibo business community and rice farmers for their kind patronage.

During the reception, staff members of the bank took the opportunity to honour National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) top student Venisha Devi Lall. The bank will also be awarding her a bursary award in September. Lall is also a member of the bank’s Early Savers Club.
