THE Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) Chamber of Commerce has commended Divisional Commander Senior Superintendent Edmond Cooper on attaining a Master of Arts degree in legal studies, with a major in criminology.
The chamber is also calling on the Guyana Police Force and Public Security Minister Khemraj Ramjattan, to recommend the promotion of the commander to assistant commissioner of police.

According to president of the Region Three Chamber of Commerce, Halim Khan, the senior superintendent has had an outstanding track record in Region Three, noting that crime is under control and lawlessness is being kept in check.
“It’s easy to forget all the hard work and sacrifices police officers make for their communities on a daily basis until they are called upon. So the chamber acknowledges the work done by Commander Cooper in being proactive in his duties while serving Region Three and we congratulate him in further advancing his qualifications and knowledge in the best interest of society,” Khan said.
The Region Three chamber president said police training and education will help officers develop the tools needed to protect communities.
“The maintenance of public order is a core responsibility of law-enforcement officials that calls for constant, careful balancing of the rights and interests of all sections of the population and Commander Cooper has been doing an excellent job,” Khan said.
