SENIOR Magistrate Leron Daly, on Friday, June 28, 2019, sentenced a 48-year-old labourer to serve one year imprisonment after he confessed to a simple larceny charge.
Devon Williams, of Industry, East Coast Demerara appeared before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and admitted that on June 17, 2019, at Water and Robb Streets, Georgetown, he stole a vendor’s cart, which had a quantity of alcoholic beverages, confectionery, cigarettes, and lighters– totalling $90,400, property of Delon Barker.
According to reports, Barker left his cart at Water and Robb Street, Georgetown and it was removed by Williams.
However, it is alleged that when Barker confronted Williams, he made good his escape. The matter was reported to the police and Williams was arrested.
