Thirty- two-year-old Shiva Balroop, a worker attached to the Ministry of Agriculture as a ranger is presently in police custody assisting with investigations after he was allegedly nabbed with 27 grams of cocaine.
According to information reaching Guyana Chronicle, a party of policemen conducted a cordon and search exercise between Lima and Walton Hall, Essequibo Coast on June 26 around 15:30 hours. They visited the ranger’s home at Lot 17 Walton Hall and found him standing in front of his house acting in a suspicious manner. A search was carried out on his person and a transparent plastic bag containing a quantity of hard rock-like substance was found by police.
He was told of the offence and was subsequently arrested and taken to the Ann Regina Police Station where the substance was counted and amounted to 47 pieces. When weighed it amounted to 22 grams. He remains in custody.
