Timehri house gutted by fire

A FIRE of unknown origin, on Friday night, gutted a house at the Timehri Base Road, East Bank Demerara, leaving several persons homeless.

Reports are that at some time around 19:00hrs, smoke was seen emanating from the building, owned by the Lumileno family, and within minutes the entire building was engulfed in flames. Eyewitnesses reported that members of the Guyana Fire Service arrived in time to save two nearby structures from the blaze.
A man identified as ‘Vinu’ and his family members, including two children and two senior citizens, lived at the house.

A wash-bay and a shop are housed in the yard and reports are the shop was partially damaged by the flames. There were no reports of anyone being injured. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
