THE owner Hair Tech International and Cosmetology School was, on Monday, June 03, 2019, arraigned before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court for resisting arrest and assaulting two police officers.
Joseph McCalman of Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate, Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus on six charges and pleaded not guilty.
Particulars of the first set of charges read that, on May 31, 2019, at Lacytown, Georgetown, McCalman resisted arrest from police officers Jason Pryce and Daniel Collins, who were acting in the execution of their duties. The court further heard that, on the same day in question, McCalman unlawfully assaulted the two police officers. It is alleged that during the same time, McCalman behaved disorderly in public.
The last charge read that McCalman, on the same day, at Lot 9 North Road, Georgetown, called Gavin Bowen a name, other than his name, with the intent to annoy him.
The Acting Chief Magistrate released McCalman on a total of $40,000 and the matter is adjourned until June 24, 2019.
