Marian Academy shut down Bladen Hall in National School Basketball Festival

MARIAN Academy restricted Bladen Hall from scoring a single bucket when action continued on Saturday in the YBG National School Basketball Festival– Georgetown and East Coast Regionals at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

In the Under-14 division, Marian Academy did it at both ends of the court with Demetrius DeAbreu powering his way to 14 rebounds, six points and six steals, while Trevor Rose had a good two-way game with nine points and eight boards to lead the Georgetown School to a whopping 22-0 victory.

Youth Basketball Guyana cluster also dominated their game when they tackled Tutorial High School. Led by Jaden Mohan, Kallani Howard and Javon Hodge, they eventual winner stormed to a 19-point win (24-5).
Mohan finished with six points and four steals, Howard with five points and Javon Hodge with four points.

M. Barton grabbed six rebounds to go with three points for Tutorial.
In a keenly contested battle, Saint Stanislaus College edged St. Roses High School after a double-double from Daniel Bailey (11 points, 16 rebounds and five steals).

Brandon McKoy added eight points and Shalom Ault six points and six rebounds. Calex Bernard with eight points and Chris Perez with six points and six rebounds were the main scorers for St. Roses.

In the U-18 competition, Plaisance Secondary gained a walkover victory over Queen’s College.

The Georgetown/East Coast Demerara Regionals will continue on June 7th and 8th. Edward B. Beharry & Company Ltd, NSC, Banks DIH LTD and Exxon Mobil are the tournament sponsors.
