Panthers, Milerock, Winners Connection and Botofago into semis
AMELIA’S Ward Panthers, Milerock and Haynes & Lewis Winners Connection on Saturday scored wins to join Botofago in the final four of the UDFA GFF/KFC U-20 Independence Cup.
In the first quarter-final at the Wisburg Secondary School ground, Jaren Watson ‘headed’ Panthers into the semis with two fantastic goals.
The first was off a Stephen Plowell sent cross which was powerfully deflected into the net in the 34th minute.
The second was almost a carbon copy, but this time Kevin Charles delivered the ball right into the path of a lunging Watson who made no mistake to score his brace in the 69th minute.
The second game of the day ended with victory for Milerock, who turned back the challenge of Capital FC through goals from Raheem Angus in the 21st minute and Lennox Richards in the 75th.
Haynes & Lewis Winners Connection were the last team to advance via a 3-0 margin with goals from Javeer Smith (35th and 45th) and Donovan Allsopp (77th).
Botofago had defeated Eagles United 1-0 to secure the other semifinal slot.
The venue for the the semifinal encounters is still being negotiated and the matchups will see Winners Connection take on Amelia’s Ward Panthers while Milerock and Botofago will do battle in the other.
