Police sources have confirmed that a notorious bandit along with two other men were shot dead at Black Bush Polder this afternoon.

The man, identified as Kelvin Shivgobin called “Kelly,” of Belvedere village,was shot and killed while being pursued by police ranks in Black Bush Polder. Two other men who were in his company were also killed by the ranks during a confrontation.

While details are sketchy, the Guyana Chronicle understands that the police were hot on the trail of the men following the recent spate of robberies in the communities there.

Last Thursday night, two families in the area were attacked and robbed by three men; one family was forced to sleep between some banana stalks as they feared the bandits would have returned following an attack earlier in the night.

Shivgobin was wanted for the double murder of the Samaroo brothers which occurred at Bush Lot village, East Berbice Corentyne on Old Years Night last.

On December 31,2018, the two brothers- Premcharrand Samaroo and Haricharran Samaroo-were killed during the course or furtherance of a robbery.

Another man, Keeran Jeenarine called “Romeo” or “Romie” of Bush Lot Village East Berbice, Corentyne, was remanded to prison for the murder of the two brothers in January this year.
