Dear Editor,
This letter is on the behalf of all the people employed by Integrated Security Services Inc. Region Six with working locations at the R.D.C, public hospital, mental hospital, State House, R.E.O, drugs bond, all government schools (nursery, primary and secondary), the nursing school and the Ministry of Education.
We are all facing the following problems
1. Money deducted for NIS yet no contributions for us at NIS.
2. We are entitled to leave passage yet none is paid.
3. We are not receiving our salary on time. We have to work months before we get one fortnight or two-weeks’ pay.
4. Sometimes when we go to the bank, no money there for us. We hear that the cheques are being payed in alphabetical order, but only some individuals are recipients.
5. Mr. D.J. Darren, who is in charge for the Integrated Security Services Inc. in New Amsterdam, tells workers who complain to bring their letter of resignation from the company if “they ain’t able with the situation”.
6. I have visited the labour department and was told by the officer that I can be fired from my job. I told her I don’t know where else to go to.
7. A lot of times, forth nightly we receive $8,000 when we are supposed to be paid $225 per hour.
We are family people. Most of us are single parent mothers. This security company is taking advantage on us because to them, we are the minority. They treat us like outcast people being given jobs. I hope that the people who can help us read this letter.
