THE Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS), in collaboration with the Commonwealth Standards Network (CSN), on Wednesday, hosted a workshop aimed at raising awareness about the importance of international standards.
The workshop attracted representatives from both government agencies and the private sector. Head of Marketing and Communications at the GNBS, Syeid Ibrahim, in his remarks at the opening of the workshop, mentioned that international standards play an important role in promoting productivity and efficiency, reducing costs, removing barriers to trade, and driving economic growth.
Hence, he said, building upon the Commonwealth advantage can trigger significant additional economic gains to Guyana and local businesses. The main address of the workshop was delivered by Technical Standardisation expert, Mr. Glenn Bosmans; representing the CSN was Mr. Peter Sissons, Head of International Engagement British Standard Institution (BSI); and MS. Andrea Mendonca, Technical Officer II Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS).
