The 47- year -old woman accused of killing her mother collapsed in the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court this morning and had to be rushed to the hospital where she was admitted for medical treatment.

Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh ruled that she be taken before the Court on another day after she had recovered.

Shortly after being brought to Court and while being held in the holding area murder accused Cameela Jameer  was heard sobbing loudly and uncontrollably.

When she was brought into the Court by two Policewomen, she collapsed before she could be placed in the dock.

The two officers took her back in the holding area and tried to revive her with Limacol.

They subsequently brought her back to the prisoner’s dock and placed her there but while there she appeared to be dazed and disoriented.

The Magistrate refused to proceed further.

He said: ”I don’t know what is wrong with this woman. Take her to the Hospital for treatment.”

The woman, still in handcuffs ,was taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital where she was admitted as a patient under Police guard .

Cameela Jameer had been charged by the police with the murder of her 69-year old mother Joycelyn Jameer during a scuffle at their home at Tempie Village West Coast Berbice on April 12th last.

The woman was found with a gaping wound to her neck and the daughter who made the report said she was away from home and returned home to make the discovery.

She later recanted her story and confessed to murdering her mother.
