AS the sporting engines continue to rev-up on and off the water, the business community is also revving up support to ensure that the 2019 edition of the Bartica Easter Regatta is a resounding success.
Joining the list of other entities that have come on board are Ansa McAl and the Bartica Development Business Association (BDBA). Ansa McAl’s cheque was handed over to the secretary of Bartica Easter Regatta, Ms Cianna Persaud, by Ms Darshanie Yussuf, Business Unit head, Ansa McAl Trading Limited.
Yussuf stated that her company was more than elated to continue its unflinching support for an event that has become a part of the Sports Tourism Calendar of Guyana.
“We at Ansa McAl have been partnering with the people of Bartica for many years now in support of this most look-forward-to event.
“Apart from the many sports activities which include the much anticipated power boat races, you have the pageant which is the oldest in Guyana and other activities for fans, visitors and Barticans to choose from. We here, at Ansa McAl, would continue to support this event and we wish you well.”
Ms Persaud, in response, expressed thanks to Ansa McAl on behalf of His Worship Mayor Gifford Marshall and the organising team from the Town Council of Bartica, noting that they have always valued the partnership of Ansa McAl.
“Your contributions over the years have been very much appreciated and we can assure you that it has contributed towards the empowerment of all, across the board. We are sure that this year would be no different as the many activities, sports and otherwise would be impacting, positively.”
The BDBA cheque for $500 000 was presented by secretary/treasurer Ms Sherrida Douglas to Bartica Easter Regatta Committee treasurer, Mr Kenneth Williams.
Ms Douglas, in handing over the cheque, said that their contribution will go directly towards the Powerboat races which will commence on Easter Sunday and conclude on Easter Monday
“We at BDBA are proud to be making this contribution to one of the most looked-forward-to events on the Easter Regatta calendar. We are well aware of the level of investment that is needed to pull off a successful event and we are happy to be fulfilling our corporate and social responsibility as a collective.”
