National U-19 ladies go into action today in Regional tournament

THE National Female Under-19 team which departed Guyana, yesterday, from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport for Trinidad & Tobago, will head into action today in the hope of restoring their former glory as champions of the Female Under-19 Invitational Regional title, which they last won in 2017.

The team comprises a number of talented and promising players and will be managed by Tremayne Smartt and coached by CWI Level 3 coach Bharat Mangru.

The tournament begins today and Guyana will play two T20 matches. Their first match will be played against Canada, commencing at 09:30hrs at the Gilbert Park then at 14:30hrs, they will face hosts Trinidad & Tobago at the NCC ground.

Tomorrow, they will take on the Windward Islands at the Gilbert Park from 09:30hrs then face Barbados in the afternoon, at the same venue.

The teams will benefit from free development sessions by the CWI on Friday 19th at the Metro Hotel.

Action continues on Saturday with the first match of the day being Guyana versus Jamaica from 09:30hrs. The semi-finals will take place during the afternoon, while the final will be played on Sunday.

The GCB wishes the team all the best in the invitational tournament and anticipates the team being rewarded for their dedication and hard work leading up both to and during the tournament.

Shabika Gajnabi (captain), Mandy Mangru (vice-captain), Cherry Ann Fraser, Sarah Amin, Omadevi Matadin, Afruica Gentle, Shemkia Edwards, Niveena Ramnauth, Bibi Ameera Adram, Lafona Gilgeous, Annalisa D’Aguiar, Lisa Charles, Ashmini Munisar and Casey Charles.
