The semifinals of this year’s 11th Edward ‘Screw’ Richmond Linden Secondary Schools Under 18 football championship is on today.
Wisburg Secondary challenges the reigning champions, Christianburg-Wismar Secondary, in one game from 14.45hrs and the other at 16.00hrs brings together Linden Foundation Secondary and Linden Technical Institute at the Wisburg Secondary School ground.
Playing at home, the Wisburg Secondary School nudged out Mackenzie High School 4-2 on penalties after the two teams were locked 0-0.
Christiansburg-Wismar Secondary benefitted from a bye straight to the semifinals in the seven-team championship.
The other semifinal is between the Linden Foundation Secondary, who won both their Group B matches against Wisburg and New Silvercity Secondary to advance, taking on the Linden Technical Institute who topped Group A which included Mackenzie High and Harmony Secondary.
In preliminary results, Harmony Secondary and Linden Technical Institute played to a 0-0 draw; Linden Foundation Secondary defeated New Silvercity Secondary 1-0; Linden Foundation Secondary edged Wisburg Secondary 1-0; and Mackenzie High won 2-0 against Harmony Secondary; Linden Technical Institute scored a 1-0 victory against Mackenzie High and Wisburg Secondary were 2-0 winners against New Silvercity Secondary
