Gov’t continues community outreaches

THE government is continuing its outreach programmes in various communities across the country, according to Minister within the Ministry of Natural Resources, Simona Broomes.
Minister Broomes was at the time participating in a social media programme hosted by Christopher Jones and was reacting to the ruling by the Court of Appeal on Friday March 22, 2019, pertaining to the validity of the no-confidence vote on Friday, December 21, 2018.

Minister Broomes made the point that the Guyanese people are important and as such, whenever there is an opportunity to interact with the public, emphasis should be placed on what one can do to make a difference in someone’s life. Minister Broomes is of the view that people do not want much and there will always be challenges from people who hold a different viewpoint

To move Guyana forward, Minister Simona Broomes posited, her fellow ministers must be out there and become interactive with the people in various communities across the country. Additionally, Minister Broomes contended that there should be zero tolerance for division and race-hate conversations, whether it comes from government ministers or from members of the opposition. Further, the minister urged public servants to serve the people because, as she put it, politicians come and go, “but you are here to stay.” As regards the government’s performance so far, Minister Broomes believes that the administration has achieved much; therefore, no one should be allowed to stymie the government’s work.

Since the focus of most of the budget presentation so far has been Guyanese experiencing “the good life,” Minister Broomes mentioned the fact that for many citizens who are now receiving potable water after a number of years, or the services of a new road, is evidence that the government is doing a good job.

Minister Broomes believes that the decision made is good footing for Guyana.
