ALEEM Hussain, Lekhnarine Shivraj and Maurice Solomon emerged top of their respective flights in the New Trend Auto golf tournament last Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Club.
Played under the Medal Play system with Flights 0 -13, 14 – 21, and 22 – 28, the three winners were able to outperform all the competitors in their flights.
In the 22 – 28 Flight, veteran Solomon was at his indomitable peak, producing a magnificent net 68, off a 24 handicap. Results in that Flight were: Maurice Solomon (68/24) – 1st; rookie Maxim Mangra (71/28) – 2nd; tied with Mangra for second place but losing on the ‘back 9’ count was rookie Videsh Persaud (71/28).
Results in the 14 – 21 Flight were: 1st– Shivraj (65/17); 2nd–Gavin Todd (72/17); 3rd–Bholawram Deo (72/18); following closely were Hilbert Shields (73/16); Joaan Deo (74/14); Haresh Tewari (75/19); Guillermo Escarraga (75/21); and Mahendra Bhagwandin (76/14).
Results in the 0 – 13 Flight were: Hussain (71/10) – 1st; Parmanand Persaud (74/12) – 2nd; also tied with Persaud for 2nd place but losing on the ‘back 9’ count were Kevin Dinanauth (74/6) and Mike Mangal (74/9); following closely was veteran Patrick Prashad (75/9).
In the special awards category, Nearest the Pin was won by David Harry, while both the Best Gross (80) and the Longest Drive were won by Kevin Dinanauth.
