A six-year-old girl from Bartica, Region Seven, has reportedly received second degree burns from her step-father.

A facebook post made by a relative of the child, alleges that the boyfriend of the little girl’s mother, severely burn the child in the palm of her right hand with a lighter.

The burn was noticed by the child’s teacher, who reported the matter to the Child Care and Protection Agency (CPA). After an investigation, the CPA handed the matter over to the police and the step-father was subsequently charged.

The matter is currently before the court, and according to a relative, it is being heard in-camera.
