A SOLID all-round performance from Andrew Gibson propelled the University of Guyana to a four-wicket win in their last game of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) NBS Second Division 40-over cricket competition on Saturday at the GNIC ground.
Gibson used his medium-pace with precision and then played a critical innings with the bat to ensure his side ended the competition with a win against the home team.
UG won the toss and inserted GNIC to take first strike. The home team reached 202 before they were bowled out in the last over.
Jermaine Grosvenor finished with a game high 61 for GNIC, while H. Collins supported with 29.
Gibson led the university’s medium-pace attack. He picked up 4-50 from eight overs, while Yekini Favourite took 2-26 from seven overs and Devon Paul 2-37 from eight overs.
In reply, UG chased down the total in 34 overs, losing six wickets in the process.
Gibson struck 53 not out– batting at five, while Mahendra Persaud added 33– batting at three.
