… Rounds 5, 6 billed for this weekend

ROUNDS five and six of the Caribbean Junior Karting Academy Trophy (CJKAT) get going today in Barbados and Team Guyana will approach both optimistically.
The team, which comprises Paige Mendonca, Nathan Rahaman, Jeremy Ten-Pow, Rayden Persaud and Zach Persaud, landed in Barbados yesterday morning and began work yesterday afternoon.

Guyana’s highest-placed competitor at the inaugural Championships, Rayden Persaud, is seventh after rounds three and four last month.
Rayden, who had positive results last time out with one seventh-place and two fifth-place finishes on the Saturday, returned the following day and placed 10th, 8th, 7th and 6th respectively to complete the weekend.

He currently sits on 125 points, three ahead of Barbados’ Kayleigh Catwell (122), as they head into the final two rounds.
Barbadian Adam Mallalieu leads the charge with 295 points, ahead of his countryman Calem Maloney (292) and Jamaican Ryan Chisholm (209).

Rayden Persaud (G26) trails Jeremy Ten-Pow (G61) during rounds 3 & 4.

The Jamaican duo of Zander Williams and Tommi Gore are fourth and fifth respectively with 186 and 182 points. Adam Marshall (132 points) is just ahead of Rayden.
Nathan Rahaman is the second highest-placed Guyanese at 8th with 91 points after that weekend, surpassing Jeremy Ten-Pow who is now 9th.

Nathan’s weekend included some enterprising drives with a sixth, tenth, ninth and an eighth-place finish on Sunday, coupled with eighth, ninth, DNF and tenth place finishes.
Ten-Pow, on the other hand, had a torrid weekend, getting a best result of seventh place on Saturday. Sunday did not yield the results he was hoping for with his highest being 8th.

Zachary Persaud also had an improved performance, moving up to 10th after some consistent driving as he continues on his 125cc path.
Paige Mendonca also had some impressive drives as she sits 11th in the standings.
