ROMELLO Crawford will be looking to maintain his impressive form and win the second and third legs of the Burnham Memorial Three-Stage road race today. However, it will be no cakewalk as Andre Greene and Briton John are just 21 seconds behind Crawford.

The young Berbician cyclist rode solo across the finish line in the 46-mile first stage in Berbice following a late attack to hold off the breakaway riders.

Crawford finished stage one in one hour 46 minutes 59 seconds to take the race which started at Springlands and ended on Main Street, New Amsterdam.
Meanwhile Andrew Hicks, Geron Williams and Christopher ‘Chicken Legs’ Griffith are 25 seconds off the lead.

Today’s action will see cyclists pedal off from Linden to Georgetown in the 65-mile second stage which rolls off at 07:00hrs.

After a break, the cyclists clash once again at 14:00hrs in the third and final 30-mile long race which begins at Georgetown, proceeds to Belfield on the East Coast of Demerara then return to the point of origin.

The race is sponsored annually by The Forbes Burnham Foundation and is organised by the Flying Stars Cycling Club. Prizes and trophies will be up for grabs in the Open, Junior and Veteran categories.
