Milo U-18 Schools Football Competition… Big wins for Christianburg-Wismar, Vergenoegen

THERE were big wins yesterday for Linden’s Christianburg Wismar Secondary School (CWSS) and West Demerara’s Vergenoegen Secondary as the Milo U-18 Schools Football Competition continued.

Friendship got the day rolling with a 2-0 win over Anns Grove.
Dornel McLennon in the 37th minute gave friendship the lead, after which Shane Sharpe sealed the deal in the 52nd.

It was in game two that CWSS destroyed St. Johns College 7-0.
A hat-trick from Andre Mayers (41st, 42nd and 45th) underscored the Linden team’s dominance with single strikes each from Randy Pickering (48th), Keron Sharpe (16th), Wayne Wilson (7th) and Hiram Gilkes (60th).

In game three, Vergenoegen overcame Tutorial high via a 3-0 margin.
Riveldo Smith (16th), Chris Smith (40th) and Ray Adams (44th) scored the goals for the West Demerara side.
Matches continue next weekend.

The tournament is also sponsored by the Ministry of Public Health through their campaign against Gender-based violence.
