‘Mash’ vending spots still availiable

DEPUTY Mayor of Georgetown, Alfred Mentore, has assured vendors who are planning to vend along the route for Mashramani this year that those spots are still available.
He was at the time responding to questions posed by media operatives with regard to the allocation and availability of spots for vendors on ‘Mash’ Day. Mentore noted that whilst there have been some changes made to the allocation of stalls along the Mashramani route, allocations have been going quite smoothly in preparation for February 23.

deputy mayor indicated that persons seeking to sell on the big day, “can come into City Hall and make their payments and receive their stall allocations.”

Meanwhile, the city official gave an update on the Memorandum of Understanding signed recently between the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and the Mayor and City Council of Georgetown. He explained that this MoU will pave the way for a joint collaboration between the City Council and the GCCI to have hand-in- glove arrangements in several areas.

Deputy Mayor Mentore also gave an update on the arrangements to accommodate the Stabroek Wharf area vendors who were relocated to an area obliquely opposite the route Number 42 bus park.

The M&CC, he indicated, is working assiduously to repair the wharf and restore its structure, so as to enable vendors to return, to ply their trades, as quickly as possible. He added that financial assistance, from government bodies, inclusive of the Ministry of Communities, is being sought to aid reconstruction of the wharf.
