Annual Forbes Burnham Memorial cycling road race pedals off on Sunday

THE annual Forbes Burnham Memorial Cycling road race will see cyclists pedal off with the first stage set for Sunday (February 17) in Berbice while the second and third legs are set for Linden and Georgetown on February 24.

On Sunday the race will begin at 07:00hrs from Corriverton to Main Street, New Amsterdam for the finish.

On February 24, the second leg begins at 07:00hrs from Linden to Homestretch Avenue, Georgetown while the third leg will see the cyclists ride from Georgetown to Belfield on the East Coast of Demerara and back to finish at the point of origin.

The race is sponsored by The Forbes Burnham Foundation and supervised by the Flying Stars Cycling Club. Prizes and trophies will be up for grabs in the Open, Junior and Veteran categories respectively.

Last year’s winner in the Open category was Paul DeNobrega while Adealie Hodge took top spot in the Junior category and Paul Cho Wee Nam first in the Veterans race.
