Banks DIH Calypso rehearsals give seawall patrons a taste of things to come

THE Banks Calypso Rehearsal got on the way on Sunday evening at the Georgetown Seawalls Bandstand. The annual event attracted many singers who are vying to win the competition this year.

Mighty Hunter, Queen Akeba, Lady Devotee and Young Bill Rogers belted out renditions relating to several events that unfolded in our country recently. These included the recent “Third term denial” by the Caribbean Court of Justice to Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo, the emergent Oil Sector and domestic violence issues.

The semi-finals competition is scheduled for Number 53 Village Berbice come Friday, February 8, while the finals will be on February 15 in the National Park. Twenty-one artistes will be competing in the event sponsored by Banks DIH Ltd. in collaboration with the Ministry of the Presidency’s Department of Social Cohesion, Culture, Youth and Sport.
