DIGICEL Guyana, on Friday, (February 1, 2019) launched its ‘Triple Treat’ event which has three components and is slated to take place in Essequibo on March 1, 2019.
The press conference took place at Digicel’s head office at Fort and Barrack Streets, Kingston, where those present were informed that 10/10 Cricket, a Duck Curry competition and Stage Show would take place at Perseverance Beach, Essequibo Coast.
Digicel Guyana Communications Manager Vidya Sanichara told reporters that it was the company’s 4th annual triple treat event on March 1, 2019, where the 10/10 cricket was expected to take centre stage.
According to Digicel Sponsorship Manager Louanna Abrams, the event will kick off on March 1, 2019 with the company’s signature event, the Duck Curry competition. She related that registration for the Duck Curry competition started yesterday ( February1, 2019 and will run for one month),
Abrams urged persons to get registered early via their Facebook page, since the first to the fourth-placed winners will walk away with fabulous prizes.
In addition, she stated that each participant will receive $10,000 at the end of the competition for his/her effort in taking part in the event.
Abrams added that the Duck Curry competition promises to be a family-oriented event, where there will be activities for children and the name of the international artiste will be advertised at a later date.
Meanwhile, speaking on the 10/10 cricket finals was Digicel Sales Manager Seon Jackman, who said that the knock-out match will be played on the Perseverance Beach.
He stated that last year they had an excellent turnout with 26 teams, who were drawn from that county and this year they are coming even bigger with more teams.
Jackman said teams can get registered via their Facebook page or at any Digicel store in Essequibo.
Rohan Budhram, Secretary of the Central Essequibo Cricket Committee, said about 30-35 teams are expected to participate in the 10/10 cricket competition.
Speaking on behalf of the sponsors was Troy Peters from Banks DIH. He stated that the company was pleased to be a part of the event and the event will be branded with the company’s XM rums and Banks beer. He added that the company had been a part of the event and was rather pleased that the cricket would be on the beach.
Monique Tiwari from Edward Beharry and Company said that her company would contribute to the event with Indi Curry Powder and prizes, in an effort to foster the development of sports in Guyana.
