TWELVE senior Guyana Defence Force officers were, on Monday, recipients of their new badges of rank following the approval of their promotion by President and Commander in Chief, David Granger.
Heading the list of promotions was Lieutenant Colonel Sherwin Anderson, who is currently overseas on training. He was promoted to the rank of Colonel.
Chief of Staff, Brigadier Patrick West, and Inspector General, Colonel Trevor Bowman badged the newly-promoted officers at a simple ceremony at the Officers Mess, Base Camp Ayanganna.
Majors Jermain Cort, Sean Harmon, (Lieutenant Commander – Coast Guard) Roger Nurse, Eon Murray, Ron Caulder and Drumson Mc Caulay have been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, while Captains Ron Daniels, Jose Ferreira, Delrae McLean, Jamie Castello, (Lieutenant Coast Guard) Adrian McLean and Farhaan Uthman have been promoted to the rank of Major.
In congratulating the officers, Brigadier West acknowledged the input of their spouses and thanked them for their unwavering support throughout the officers’ careers.
He noted that with higher rank, there were additional responsibilities.
Brigadier West also noted that the benefits of promotion were twofold, in that both the organisation and the individuals stood to gain.
He further added that the promotions were a reflection of the confidence which the Force had reposed in them.
